Frequently Asked Questions
What are superannuation insurance entitlements?
Superannuation insurance entitlements are additional benefits attached to your superannuation policy. These include total and permanent disability (TPD) benefits, income protection benefits, terminal illness benefits, and death benefits.
What qualifies as Total & Permanent Disability (TPD)?
If you’ve been injured or suffer an illness or disease that you can demonstrate prevents you from doing your normal job or any other work related to your specific training and experience, then you may be eligible to for TPD compensation claim.
If you’re only temporarily unable to work, you may qualify for a Total & Temporary Disability claim for up to 75% of your normal income. This type of compensation may be offset by other forms of compensation depending on the type and cause of your injury or illness.
How do I access my superannuation insurance entitlements?
Firstly, check your insurance coverage and check for any exclusion or eligibility clauses in your insurance policy fine print. Insurance companies often use this small print to deny claims. If you have had a claim rejected, Ferrall & Co. can work with you to understand your options with our extensive understanding and experience with fine print and insurance companies.
What is public liability law?
Public liability law covers many different circumstances where someone is injured or dies because of the actions or inactions of another person.
Who is responsible for injuries in public places?
Anyone who allows others to enter their property owes them a ‘duty of care’ to take care of their safety. Businesses and others who occupy property (other than residents) are required to carry public liability insurance. So, compensation claims are mostly made against insurance companies.
Anyone who is found to be responsible or has been part of the cause of an injury to someone in a public place could be held liable for the loss from the injuries.
What can public liability compensation cover?
Compensation for an injury that occurred in a public place may cover medical costs (including future costs); lost income; pain, suffering and lost enjoyment of life; and home help and attendant care.
