Local Landmarks Nearby
Shelly Beach Park. The park on the foreshore has a playground and picnic facilities and is the main gathering point for the suburb. From there, the drive to our office along Victoria Terrace is about five minutes.
Des Dwyer Walkway. The path that links Moffat Head to Caloundra Head through the Caloundra Headland Foreshore Reserve. If you walk it south, you come out near the town centre.
The Shelly Beach rock pools. Exposed at low tide at the base of the Caloundra Headland, and the reason a lot of families end up here rather than at the busier patrolled beaches.
Driving
About five minutes. There are three sensible routes depending on which part of Shelly Beach you are starting from:
- Via Victoria Terrace: 2.1 km, around 5 minutes. The shortest run for anyone near the southern end toward Caloundra Head.
- Via Edmund Street: 2.7 km, around 6 minutes.
- Via Bowman Road: 3.1 km, around 7 minutes. Usually the easiest if you are coming from the Moffat Beach side.
Walking and riding
Shelly Beach connects to the Caloundra town centre by the Sunshine Coast Coastal Pathway. The Caloundra Connection runs from Moffat Beach around the headland and down to Bulcock Beach, which puts our office a short walk from where the path ends. Plenty of Shelly Beach residents already walk or ride that stretch. If the weather is good, it is a pleasant way to get to an appointment.
Parking
The Cooma Terrace car park is one street back from Bulcock Street. It is free, has two levels with undercover spaces, and has lift access, which makes it the better choice for a longer appointment. The Ormuz Avenue car park is closer to our building but limited to three hours, and the limit is enforced. There is also kerbside parking on Bulcock Street itself with signposted time limits, which is fine for a short visit.
A small suburb where people know each other
Shelly Beach is one of the smallest suburbs in Caloundra. Half a square kilometre, and around 925 people at the last census. It sits between Moffat Head to the north and Caloundra Head to the south, with the beach unpatrolled along most of its length. That keeps the crowds away and keeps the suburb quiet.
There is one more thing worth saying plainly. In a suburb of 925 people, privacy matters. People worry about being seen walking into a lawyer’s office in a town where they know half the street. Everything you tell us is confidential. If you would rather not come into the office at all, we can do the whole thing by phone or video. Plenty of clients do.

Yes. If you have been served with court documents, it is important to seek legal advice immediately as there are strict deadlines for filing a response.
The law now uses terms like “parental responsibility” and “live with/spend time with” rather than “custody” and “access,” focusing on the rights of the child rather than the rights of the parents.
